Jacqueline Fernandez hails from Manama in Bahrain. She grew up as part of an ethnically diverse family. Jacqueline's dad Elroy Fernandez is from Sri Lanka. Her brothers are younger as well as an older sister. The 80s were the time when her parents emigrated to Bahrain because of civil war on Sri Lanka. This is why she was born and raised in the country. After completing the schooling in Bahrain she won an Scholarship to the University of Sydney to pursue the Media and Communications Degree in Sydney, Australia. With a love of different cultures and languages, she took part in the Berlitz school of languages, which is where she began to learn Spanish and improve her French and Arabic. She was also crowned Miss Sri Lanka 2006 for Miss Universe 2006 on March 6, 2006 and participated in Miss Universe 2006. In the wake of her 2006 Miss Sri Lanka win, Padukone made her debut on television and hosted a program about Sri Lankan businesses known as Lanka Business Report. Padukone is the child of of badminton champion Prakash Padukone. Padukone grew up in Bangalore, but she came from Copenhagen. As a teenager, she participated in national badminton competitions, but quit playing and went on to become a fashion designer. Padukone is a native of Mangalorean roots and speaks Konkani as her mother tongue. Her ancestors hail from the village Padukone within the Kundapura Taluk, in the Udupi district in Karnataka state, which is located in India. Prakash Padukone was a badminton legend before retiring in the 1980s. The mother of her daughter, a travel agency also comes from this area.
